This product has been imported from Japan with an average of 50,000 miles and is provided
with an industry leading one year warranty. We offer more than 4 times the warranty length
than most importers or wrecking yards. Hopefully you'll never need it, but having it will put
your mind at ease!

A little bit about us
Foreign Engines has been in business since 1982. We opened as a small local Japanese
engine and transmission importer in Seattle Washington. By providing high quality products
and the best warranty available we've grown to have two locations, one in Washington state, and
one in Idaho. Repeat business is what we've built our reputation on so every customer is
important to us. Don't expect high pressure sales tactics, that's not us. Our sales staff is

What's the deal with Japanese import engines?
"JDM" stands for Japanese Domestic Market. These engines were used in Japan before they
were exported to the U.S. The average Japanese driver drives their car 50,000 miles before
turning their vehicle in.

Why only 50,000 miles?
Each car must pass the "Shaken" test. The first test is administered for passenger vehicles
at year 3 and every 2 years after. The car must pass on many different levels : exterior,
speedometer, headlights, exhaust and emissions, suspension and interior. Anything not
meeting the required standard must be repaired. When the cost of repairs outweighs the
value of the car it is exported or recycled. Foreign Engines imports the recycled engines.

Some things to consider when shopping around :
WARRANTY : Most other companies will only cover their engines or transmissions for 30
to 90 days and the small print requires that the mechanic be certified or the warranty is
void. We have a one year warranty and you do not need to be a certified mechanic to
maintain your warranty.
RETURN SHIPPING : Most other companies will charge you for return shipping.
They will also not assume responsibility if the engine / transmission does not fit
your vehicle. Foreign Engines will pay all return shipping charges on warranty or
fitment issues.
REVIEWS : Check out reviews. Not all companies treat their customers in the same
manner.
