Rhode Island Reds are an old homestead standby and a great choice for a sustainable farm flock. Hens are renown as excellent layers of large to extra-large brown eggs. Young roosters dress out at around 5 lbs. at 5 months old when properly fed. Our line of Rhode Island Reds are prolific layers, hardy, vigorous, and friendly. We breed them to have gentle, easy-to-handle personalities. These are true dual-purpose chickens that meet the correct weight requirements for the breed and are much larger and better filled out than most RIRs available from the commercial hatcheries. They have dark-red color and will perform well as 4-H show chickens if desired. More information about our flock can be found on our website at www.northstarpoultry.com/rhode-island-reds

Photos are of our chicks and some of our breeding stock. Do not use photos without permission.
