Some of our Easter Egger roosters purchased from a straight run in mid February at a week old are real lookers with great patterns. They’ve been raised with toddlers holding them and curious house cats and a dog wandering in the same pasture daily. They are free range and have access to starter feed as well. We don’t mind them getting picked up for free (they are otherwise destined for the broth pot). They are calling out when they see eagles. I haven’t seen any of them chase anyone that’s not a chicken. This breed is not a meat chicken so not a great option for that. 10 hens to a rooster is recommended.
