Dunrovin Ranch in Lolo is accepting sign-ups for our youth apprenticeship program for ages 13 to 17 years old. We are looking for future summer ranch employees and this is where we hope to find them! The program is progressive. Students demonstrating strong work ethics, commitment, and competence will be invited to participate as ranch assistants for summer ranch camps or after school pony programs. Dunrovin Ranch has hired successful students as paid ranch hands for the summer and after school.

The program emphasizes safety around horses, horse management and care, beginning to advanced riding skills, and work ethics and responsibilities. Each weekly session is for 2 hours. The time will be split between horsemanship and ranch upkeep and care, skills essential be becoming a ranch hand.
This program is for older kids who are more serious about learning how to ride, learning the responsibilities of horse ownership, and grooming themselves for working with Dunrovin in the future. All activities are conducted out of doors and in a group setting. Enrollment is limited to six participants.
Both spring and fall weather can be unpredictable and Dunrovin believes in the Montana saying that “there is no such things as bad weather, just bad clothes!” Dunrovin does not offer make-up sessions and will not cancel because of weather. In the event instructors need to interrupt lessons for safety concerns, i.e. lightning, thunderstorms, etc., an appropriate horse-themed educational experience will be substituted.
