Marked Vanguard Studios on a brass plate with the date as well as on a sticker with catalog number 1214. It measures approximately 37 1/2" tall x approximately 9" wide. It looks like it is made of wood but it is Vanathane which is a light, hard foam type material. It is realistic - my first thought was that it was carved out of wood like they once were. I've read that Vanguard Studios was an art production company founded by Lee Reynolds, but I've also read that they would also produce props for movie productions.
It doesn't have any dents or gouges in the vanathane material as far as I have noticed, but the paint is chipped and faded. Overall this doesn't detract from the piece in my opinion, but gives it a weathered and aged look.
